Clarence D. Wheeler, age 95, of Aledo, IL. died Saturday August 5, 2017 at Genesis Senior Living in Aledo. Funeral services are 11:30 AM Wednesday August 9, 2017 at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial is in the Aledo cemetery where graveside military services will be conducted. Visitation is from 10:00 AM until time of services Wednesday at Fippingers where memorials may be left to the Mercer County Senior Citizens Center or Genesis Senior Living. He was born December 19, 1921 in Leroy, MN a son of Ora and Mildred Lester Wheeler. He attended the local country school in Boscobel, WI and married Gyneth Ward October 23, 1945 in Boscobel. She died April 24, 2005.

Clarence was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the 120th Engineer Combat Battalion.

He farmed in Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois. He was employed at the Mercer County Rock Quarry for 11 years and retired in 1986 after 10 years with the Mercer County Highway Department.

He was a member of the College Avenue Presbyterian Church, Mercer County VFW Post #1571, American Legion Fallerans's Post #121 and the Mercer County Senior Citizens Center.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Sandra (Gene) Freeman if Lexington, TN, Sherry (Bill) Spence of Aledo, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, a sister-in-law Helen Hansen of Fennimore, WI and several nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by parents, wife and 2 brothers.
