Constance M. “Connie” Vail age 72, of Woodhull, Illinois died Saturday July 21, 2018 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA, with her family by her side. Services are 11:00 Am Wednesday July 25, 2018 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Woodhull. Burial is in the Woodhull Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-8 PM Tuesday at the Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home in Woodhull where memorials may be left to the Woodhull Veterans Memorial or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. She was born April 3, 1946 in Moline, IL. To Mylo and Helen Roe Hood. She grew Up in Farmington, Iowa and attended Harmony High School. She graduated from the Cele Whan School of Beauty in Rock Island and married Karol K. Vail December 3, 1966 in Milan, IL.
She owned and operated Connie’s Lakeside Boutique in Woodhull for over 41 years.
Connie was passionate about giving back to her Woodhull community. She diligently served on the AlWood Board of Education for 24 years and took great pride in being the first woman ever elected to serve in 1985. For the past many years, Connie actively served on the Woodhull town board until resignation this past year due to illness. Whether she was serving on a Sesquicentennial committee or campaigning for her friend Dan Swanson, she always gave it her all. She enjoyed working on committees and was instrumental in raising funds for various projects or events. The project that gave her the most pride was creating the Veteran’s Memorial in Woodhull.
Her interests included traveling with her family, playing a great game of Blackjack and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Karol, 2 daughters, Darla (Doug) Ball of Aledo, IL, Missy (James) Frakes of Woodhull, IL 2 sons, Kent Vail of Woodhull and Don Vail of Alpha,IL, 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren who will carry on her legacy and make sure her memory is never forgotten, 1 brother Michael Hood of Lee, FL, several nieces and nephews.
Her parents preceded her in death.
